The Institute of Engineering was formed in 2018 by merging the Institute of Construction and Electrical Engineering and the Institute of Engineering and Technology.
Each of the institutes has its own long history:
The Mechanical Engineering Department, one of the oldest departments of the Academy, was founded in 1974. The first Dean of the Faculty was PhD in Engineering, Associate Professor Stepin Nikolay Alekseevich. For a long time the faculty was headed by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Akhmat Chokaevich Erkenov (Russian State Duma deputy of V and VI convocations). The faculty was also headed by the laureate of the USSR Ministry of Higher Education, Honored Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Engineering, Professor Botashev Anvar Yusufovich.
In 2010 the faculty was transformed into the Engineering-Technological Institute. The director of the institute was Shailiev Rustam Sharunovich, PhD, associate professor, professor of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences.
The Institute of Construction and Power Engineering was the successor of the Mechanical and Power Engineering Faculty of the branch of Stavropol Polytechnic Institute in Cherkessk created in 1974, the dean of which was associate professor Romanovskaya Nina Ivanovna.
In 1982 the separate power engineering faculty was separated, the deans of the faculty were successively Kuznetsov Vladimir Georgiyevich, in 1991 Associate Professor Lafishev Anvar Zaudinovich, since 2002 Associate Professor Kyatov Nurbi Khusinovich.
In 2009, the faculty was reorganized into the Institute of Construction and Electric Power Engineering.
From 2016 to 2018, the Institute was headed by Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Albert Mukhadinovich Kidakoev.
Today the Engineering Institute is one of the major structural divisions of the North Caucasus State Academy. It is an institute with a flexible, multilevel system of training qualified specialists. At the moment the contingent of students of the Institute of Engineering is about 1000 full-time and part-time students.
Quite a lot of attention is paid to the organization of leisure and recreation of students. They participate in various sports events, volunteer movements, charitable activities, KVN, actively engaged in creativity, where they repeatedly became winners and took high prizes. In addition, every year, during the winter and summer vacations, students of our institute are sent, as an encouragement, to the recreation centers of the Academy "Narat" in the village of Arkhyz and "Kholodok" in the village of Anchor Slit (on the Black Sea coast).
