"Karachay-Cherkessia Institute of Technology" (KCHTI) was founded in accordance with the Decree of the State Committee of the RSFSR on Science and Higher Education from 07.06.1991 № 60.
On December 8, 1998 by order of the Ministry of General and Professional Education № 2997 "Karachay-Cherkessia Institute of Technology" was renamed to "Karachay-Cherkessia State Institute of Technology" (KCHTI).
July 15, 2003 by order of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation № 3055 SIU VPO "Karachay-Cherkessia State Institute of Technology" was renamed to state educational institution of higher professional education "Karachay-Cherkessia State Technological Academy" (SIU VPO "KCHSTA").
On the 20th of April, 2010 by the order of the Federal Agency of Education № 410 State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Karachai-Cherkessia State Academy" was renamed to the State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "North Caucasus State Academy of Humanities and Technology" (SEI HPE "SevKavGTA").
May 27, 2011 by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation № 1832 state educational institution of higher professional education "North-Caucasus State Humanitarian-Technological Academy" was renamed to the federal state budget educational institution of higher professional education "North-Caucasus State Humanitarian-Technological Academy" (FSBEI HPE "SevKavGTA").
On May 18, 2016 by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation № 590 FSBEI HPE "North Caucasus State Humanitarian-Technological Academy" was renamed into the federal state budgetary educational institution of higher education "North Caucasus State Humanitarian-Technological Academy" (FSBEI HPE "SevKavGTA").
On November 16, 2018, by order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation № 980, the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "North Caucasus State Humanitarian and Technological Academy" was renamed into the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education "North Caucasus State Academy" (FSBEI VO "NCSA").
The founder of the higher education institution is the Government of the Russian Federation; the authority of the founder is exercised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
The Academy has the right to issue the state educational documents to the graduates who passed the final state attestation.
Currently, there are 6 institutes (agrarian, medical, legal, economic and management, applied mathematics and information technology, engineering) and the faculty of design and arts, as well as a secondary vocational college, in which 5262 students are trained (as of 1.10.2018). All conditions necessary for the implementation of educational activities of the university are provided in the Academy: there is a library and publishing center, the Institute of advanced training and additional general and professional education, the center of student creative work, etc.
The quality of specialists' training at the higher educational establishment is ensured, first of all, by the level of training of the teaching staff. The academy has 915 employees, including: 314 people belonging to the teaching staff, 83 people to the teaching auxiliary staff and 210 people to the service staff, 77 people to the administrative and managerial staff, 37 people to the administrative and housekeeping staff, 77 people to the training and production staff, etc.
There are 43 Doctors of Science, Professors; 194 Candidates of Science among the Academy teaching staff. Employees of the Academy have honorary titles and awards of the Russian Federation and the KCR: Honorary Worker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation - 2 persons; Honorary Worker of Higher Education of the KCR - 1 person; Honorary Worker of Culture - 1 person; Title "Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education" - 42 persons; "Honorary Worker of Secondary Professional Education" - 11 persons; "National Artist of the KCR" - 1 person; "Honorary Scientist of KCR" title - Honorary Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation - 1 person, "Honorary Coach of the Russian Federation" - 2 persons, 12 persons were awarded by Certificates of Merit of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.
All academic divisions of the Academy (institutes, departments) are headed by the teachers with academic degrees and titles. Educational activities in the Academy are carried out on the premises assigned to the right of operational management by the orders of the Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Management of Federal Property in the Karachaevo-Cherkess Republic and the city of Sochi.
Educational buildings that carry out educational activities are located at the following addresses: Cherkessk, 36 Stavropolskaya St., 152, 154 Lenina Ave., 154 Cosmonauts St., 100.
In recent years, much attention has been paid to the appearance of the university, its interior and technical equipment of laboratories, centers and classrooms
