Academy: history of creation and development.
By the Decree of the RSFSR State Committee for Science and Higher Education from 07.06.1991 № 60 from 01.09.1991 the Karachay-Cherkess Technological Institute was founded.
By the order of the Ministry of General and Professional Education of the Russian Federation from 08.12.1998 № 2997 ‘Karachay-Cherkess Technological Institute’ (KCHTI) was renamed into ‘Karachay-Cherkess State Technological Institute’ (KCHSTI).
By the order of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation from 15.07.2003 № 3055 GOU VPO ‘Karachay-Cherkess State Technological Institute’ was renamed into the state educational institution of higher professional education ‘Karachay-Cherkess State Technological Academy’ (GOU VPO ‘KCHGTA’).
By the order of the Federal Agency for Education from 20 April 2010 № 410 GOU HPE ‘Karachay-Cherkess State Technological Academy’ was renamed into the state educational institution of higher professional education ‘North Caucasus State Humanitarian-Technological Academy’ (FSBEI HPE ‘NCSHTA’).
By the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation from 27.05.2011 № 1832 GOU HPE ‘North Caucasus State Humanitarian and Technological Academy’ was renamed into the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education ‘North Caucasus State Humanitarian and Technological Academy’ (FSBEI HPE ‘NCSHTA’).
By the Order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation from 18.05.2016 № 590 FGBOU HPE ‘North Caucasus State Humanitarian and Technological Academy’ was renamed into the federal state budgetary educational institution of higher education ‘North Caucasus State Humanitarian and Technological Academy’ (FSBEI HPE ‘NCSHTA’).
By the Order of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation from 16.11.2018 № 980 FGBOU VO ‘North Caucasus State Humanitarian and Technological Academy’ was renamed into the Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education ‘North Caucasus State Academy’ (FSBEI HE ‘NCSA’).
The founder of the Academy is the Government of the Russian Federation, the powers of the founder are exercised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
The Academy has the right to issue to the graduates who have passed the state final attestation a document on education of the state sample.
The policy in the field of quality assurance of education in the North Caucasus State Academy is aimed at formation of an attractive environment for entrants; formation of educational programmes of higher, secondary professional and additional professional education taking into account scientific achievements, professional standards and modern trends of development of economy and society; updating and introduction of new educational technologies; provision of profile demand for graduates in the labour market; integration of education and training in the North Caucasus State Academy.
At present the structure of the North Caucasus State Academy includes 6 institutes (medical, law, economics and management, digital technologies, engineering, agrarian), faculty of design and arts, secondary professional college, and also institute of open education realising additional educational programmes.
The North Caucasus State Academy carries out educational activity on 72 educational programmes of higher and secondary professional education: bachelor's degree - 19, specialist's degree - 9, master's degree - 7, residency - 10, postgraduate studies - 14, secondary professional education - 16.
The total number of students on basic educational programmes at the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year was 5996 people, including full-time students - 3144 people, part-time students - 291 people, part-time students - 988 people. On programmes of higher education - 4423 persons, 1573 students on programmes of secondary vocational education.
The North Caucasus State Academy has a qualified teaching staff, which allows to carry out qualitative training of specialists in all educational programmes. There are 573 employees of the Academy, including 323 pedagogical workers of the teaching staff, from which 31 doctors of sciences and 171 candidates of sciences.
The employees of the Academy have honourable titles and awards of the Russian Federation and the Karachay-Cherkess Republic: ‘HonouredWorker of Higher Education of the Russian Federation’ - 2 persons, ‘Honoured Worker of Higher Education of the KCRR’ - 1 person - 1 person, ‘Honoured Worker of Culture’ - 1 person, ‘Honoured Worker of Higher Professional Education’ - 36 persons, ‘Honoured Worker of Secondary Professional Education’ - 7 persons, ‘People's Artist of the KCRR’ - 1 person, ‘Honoured Worker of Science of the KCRR’ - 11 persons, ‘Honoured Worker of Science of the KCRR’ - 11 persons - 11 persons, ‘Honoured Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation’ - 1 person, ‘Honoured Coach of the Russian Federation’ - 2 persons, 14 persons were awarded Certificates of Merit of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, etc.
All educational divisions of the Academy (institutes, departments) are headed by teachers with academic degrees and titles. Educational activity in the Academy is carried out on the premises assigned on the right of operational management by the orders of the Territorial Administration of the Federal Agency for Management of Federal Property in the Karachay-Cherkess Republic and Sochi.
The North Caucasus State Academy provides its students with all conditions for effective study and recreation. The educational buildings, where the educational activity is carried out, are located at the following addresses: Cherkessk, Stavropolskaya St., 36, Lenin Ave., 152, 154, Cosmonauts St., 100.
The structure of the Academy includes the Library and Publishing Centre, which provides library and information, editorial and publishing support of educational and research processes.
SCSA provides conditions for sports, health improvement, recreation, etc. Modern objects of sports infrastructure include: swimming pool, sports complex, three sports halls (100 Cosmonautov St.) and physical culture and recreation complex ‘Kupol’ (36 Stavropolskaya St.).
The Academy has 4 training bases: ‘Narat’ (Arkhyz settlement, Zelenchuksky district), ‘UNPC’ (KrasnyKurgan settlement, Malokarachayevsky district), ‘Kholodok’ (YakornayaShchel settlement, Lazarevsky district, Sochi), training and experimental farm of the Agrarian Institute of SKGA (Schastlivy settlement, Prikubansky district).
Medical services for students and teachers are provided by the Centre for Promotion of Health of Students, pupils of the educational institution.
The Academy has a network of canteens: ‘Molodezhnoye’ (36, Stavropolskaya St.), ‘AkademiyaVkusa’ (100, Cosmonavtov St.), college canteen (41, Stavropolskaya St.), the total number - 540 seats.
The residential complex of the university includes 2 hostels for 840 beds. Provision of students in need of places in hostels is 100%.
Recently a lot of attention has been paid to the decoration of the Academy's appearance, its interior and technical equipment of laboratories, centres, classrooms. Much work is done to ensure the safety of students and staff, energy-saving technologies are put into operation.
