Thesis: Multicriteria problem on graphs.

Thesis: Algorithmic questions of the theory of fractal graphs.
Research interests: Topological characteristics of the graph-theoretic model of large-scale clustering of matter in the Universe. Asymtotic exact algorithms for solving the multicriteria graph covering problem with chains. Recognition of fractal graphs. Algorithmic approach. Akhmat Magomedovich carries out scientific supervision over postgraduate students and applicants in the speciality 05.13.18. ‘Mathematical modelling, numerical methods and software packages’. Under his supervision 14 postgraduate students and applicants have successfully defended their PhD theses for the degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. He has more than 90 published scientific works.

Information about material and technical support of educational activity
The chair ‘Mathematics’ is equipped with 4 specialised computer classes with access to the local network of the Academy and the Internet, multimedia equipment, more than 60 personal computers with access to the Internet and the necessary software are used for lectures and practical classes. There is a methodical room with the necessary literature for the educational process.
Direction of study and results of educational work
The teaching load of the department is fulfilled according to the staff schedule. The teaching staff of the department reads a course of lectures on higher mathematics on all specialities of SevKavGGTA, the course ‘Information systems in economics’, ‘Operations research and decision making’, ‘Econometrics’ - on economic specialities and more than 33 disciplines on the direction of training 01.03.04 Applied mathematics. The employees of the chair supervise educational, educational and familiarisation, industrial, pre-diploma practices in the direction of training 01.03.04. Every year the management of diploma works is carried out.
The department ‘Mathematics’ is the graduating department of training direction 01.03.04 Applied Mathematics, for 12 graduations 588 engineers-mathematicians were graduated, 235 of them with honours, working practically at all enterprises of KCR and beyond its borders.
The staff of the department conducts educational, methodical and scientific work. For the last 5 years the teaching staff of the department has created more than 55 methodical developments, instructions, manuals, 2 educational and scientific monographs. 230 scientific works have been published.
Under the guidance of Professor Kochkarov A.M. the department conducts research work on training of postgraduates in two specialities: 05.13.18 ‘Mathematical modelling, numerical methods and software packages’, 08.00.13 ‘Mathematical and instrumental methods in economics’
In the period from 2006 to 2011, 6 members of the department successfully defended theses for the degree of Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, one thesis for the degree of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
Historical information
The chair ‘Mathematics’ is one of the leading chairs of SKGA, it has been functioning since the foundation of the branch of Stavropol Polytechnic Institute since 1970.
Since 2000 the chair has been headed by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Akhmat Magomedovich Kochkarov.
General information
The Department of Mathematics is one of the organisers of scientific and practical student conferences for SCSA students.
The main directions and issues of the conference include reports on information technologies, object-oriented high-level programming languages, neural network technologies, fractal graphs, network and communication technologies, tasks of modelling socio-economic processes, etc.
The research seminar, in which students, postgraduates and applicants are also involved, is successfully functioning at the chair. The members of the department actively participate in scientific and practical regional, All-Russian, international conferences, symposia, schools of young scientists. The results of the labours are published in the leading scientific journals, including VAK.
