The Department of Forestry offers degrees in Forestry (35.03.01) and Agricultural Engineering (35.03.06). In order to ensure the conduct of all types of classes and research work, the department has 5 laboratories equipped with equipment that complies with current sanitary and technical standards:
- soil science, agriculture and agrochemistry laboratory;

botany, plant physiology and dendrology laboratory;

forestry and wood science laboratory;

forest meteorology and geodesy laboratory;

agrometeorology, landscape science and land management laboratory.
The classrooms are equipped with reference tables and information stands, which help in the assimilation of practical and theoretical material, as well as teaching aids. The educational process at the university is focused on future practical activities. The department maintains contacts with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic, the Southern Branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution ‘Roslesinforg’, the Federal State Budgetary Institution ‘Teberda National Park’, forestries and forestry enterprises of the republic, which serve as a base for practical training and scientific research of the department and allow obtaining materials on forest management and accounting of the forest fund of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic (in paper and electronic form). Agreements have been concluded with the above-mentioned organisations and institutions of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic for the completion of industrial practice. An environmental team operates at the department.
Areas of study and results of educational work:
The department trains bachelors in the following areas:
- 35.03.01 Forestry;
- 35.03.06 Agricultural Engineering, specialisation (profile) ‘Technical Services in the Agro-Industrial Complex’.
The department's teaching load is carried out in accordance with the staffing schedule. Currently, the department is staffed by highly professional teaching staff: 2 professors, 6 associate professors and 1 senior lecturer, 6 candidates of science and 2 doctors of science.
