Department of Applied Informatics



Head of the Department: Khapaeva Lelya Khalisovna Khapaeva, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Associate Professor.

Education: 1997 Karachay-Cherkess State University, Faculty of Physics and Mathematics.

Candidate's thesis defence: 2011. North Caucasus State University, Stavropol, speciality 05.13.18 ‘Mathematical modelling, numerical methods and software packages’.

Thesis topic: Construction of structural recognition algorithms in pre-fractal models of network systems.

Additional education: 2018. Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education ‘North Caucasus State Humanitarian-Technological Academy’ professional retraining ‘Information technologies and programming’, Cherkessk.


Research interests: Recognition of fractal graphs. Algorithmic approach. Structural dynamics and research of network systems of structural-dynamic systems. Modelling of complex hierarchical information, socio-economic and technical systems; Discrete mathematics (Graph Theory).

Grants and projects:

Grant for the Summer School-Competition of Programmer within the framework of the programme of development of student associations' activities of educational organisations of higher education, implemented in 2017 by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation.

Information about material and technical support of educational activity



The department of ‘Applied Informatics’ is the graduating department of Bachelor's degree: 09.03.03 Applied Informatics, 09.03.04 Software Engineering; Master's degree: 09.04.03 Applied Informatics.   There are more than 24 classrooms for lectures and practical classes.  For laboratory classes there are 8 classrooms equipped with computer workstations connected to the local network of the Academy and having Internet access with the corresponding software of the disciplines taught.

At the department there is an educational scientific and educational centre of IT-technologies and programming to provide all kinds of classes and research work of students.

The department of ‘Applied Informatics’ carries out graduation in the directions of training

Bachelor's degree:

09.03.03 Applied Informatics, orientation (profile) Applied Informatics in Economics, Applied Informatics in Law (full-time and part-time);

09.03.04 Software Engineering, orientation (profile) General (full-time education);

Master's programmes:

09.04.03 Applied Informatics, orientation(profile) Applied Informatics in Economics and Management (full-time and part-time).

The professional knowledge obtained in the process of training will give the graduates of the department the opportunity to: design, develop and implement management information systems; manage a team of developers and/or professional users of information systems; conduct experimental model studies of management systems of socio-economic processes; operate and modernise information systems.

Contracts for industrial practice with enterprises and institutions of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic have been concluded.

Historical information


The Department of ‘Applied Informatics’ was founded by the decision of the Academic Council of the Academy on 25.06.2020. Protocol № 10 as a result of reorganisation of the department ‘Informatics and Information Technologies’ by dividing it into two departments ‘Applied Informatics’ (graduating) and ‘General Informatics’.


 General information


The main direction of the activity of the chair ‘Applied Informatics’ is the implementation of educational, educational and scientific activities aimed at training highly qualified and competitive graduates with profound theoretical and applied knowledge. The main objectives of the department are: improvement of educational and methodical activity of the teaching staff; improvement of teaching technologies in order to develop the creative potential of the student's personality; conducting scientific research on the profile of the department; training of scientific and pedagogical staff and professional development.

At the department training of specialists is carried out by highly qualified teaching staff, including: professor, doctor of economic sciences - 1 person, associate professors - 6 people, senior lecturer - 6 people, assistant -1 person, as well as to the educational process are actively involved leading IT specialists of organisations of KCRR.

The department staff is engaged in preparation and publication of articles in journals recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission, in journals included in the international database of scientific publications Web of Science, Scopus, indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index, in collections of scientific conferences of different levels (intra-academic, regional, all-Russian, international) and other scientific editions.
